Because I am a scatter brain....

Because I am a scatter brain I forgot another book that was an all-time favorite, in which case I will enter it here, yea I know that means I have a top 11 favorites for this year ahhh get it 11 for 2011? I know…too much time on my hands. Anyways Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan. This book is amazing; it takes a very serious subject such as child abuse and makes it into a book very eye opening and memorable. Ms. Donovan also tactfully made it into a love story without taking away from the seriousness of the abuse at home.

A little about the book without giving the plot away the main character Emma keeps to herself, she has one best friend she keeps at bay and likes it this way, she studies hard and gets good grades so she can get out of her aunt and uncles house after she graduates, and believe me, she is counting down the days. Unexpectedly a new boy comes to school, his name is Evan Mathews, he makes her feel emotions she’s never felt before and makes her feel alive figuring she is just trying to feel nothing to get through the abuse happening at home. She decides to try and have a relationship with Evan without her abusive aunt finding out, and that is where I leave you in suspense, what happens to her? Does Evan find out about the abuse? Does her aunt find out what is going on?

Read the book I’m telling you it is  ah-maz-ing. Oh and you think this suspense is bad wait till you get to the end of the book, this doesn’t even compare to the end. And if you have already read it and am dying to know, from Ms. Donovan’s website she says there will be a sequel… phew!

Perfect Chemistry

So I said I would start by reviewing my top picked books of this year and although this is the first one I put on the list it may not be my favorite although it is obviously one of them. So to properly review it I will start by saying before my local Borders book store went out of business (I know heart breaking) I was looking for something new I wasn't reading much and I was just browsing the young adult section. I sometimes will base a book solely on the cover which is probably not the best way to find a book, but anyways I found it and was intrigued by the description and the cover. I bought the book and finished it in a day, I love this book.

It starts with a girl Britney who is starting her senior year in High school, she feels she has to be perfect because of her family’s image and for the fact her sister is sick.  She has a lot of money and needs to uphold her appearance. She has a boyfriend Colin who she thinks she is in love with. Then it is also in the point of view of Travis he is the bad boy from the other side of the tracks, he’s part of a gang and is an intimidating Mexican hotty (yes he is described that way) anyways Britney and Alex get teamed up as chemistry partners and it is clear they hate each other from the beginning. I don’t want to give much more of the plot away because I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone if they so choose to read it.

I loved this book for many reasons one being I am a sucker for a good love story I guess I’m like any girl waiting for my man in shining armor to come in and protect and love me, I also think it was written very well. Ms. Elkeles knows how to relate to the teenagers of today’s society and makes it very relatable.  I don’t think it was cheesy and predictable like some young adult romance novels can be you really do get a surprise near the end. I laughed with this book and at parts my heart broke for the characters, over all one of my all-time favorites.

Why a book review blog?

So why have I started a book review blog? Well it's simple really; 1) I read A LOT I mean I have read over 100 books this year alone. 2) It kind of piggy backs off of the last reason, I can read very fast. 3) by writting this blog I hope to improve my writing skills and 4) If I'm really good at something I mine as well capitalize on it.

So a little bit about me I am addicted to reading I know duh right? well I think it goes further then that, if I'm really into a book I am so addicted that I will stay up till all hours of the night just to finish a book. Sometimes a book will be so much apart of me it leaves a lasting impression and I can't stop thinking about it.

Anyways, I have a top ten list that I will list now and everyday I will give a review for said books, so here it goes!
